Kidango, a private, not-for-profit child development agency, is a Northern California Bay Area leader in early education and support services for children and families. Providing quality care and education in 9 Bay Area cities to over 2,500 children daily makes us one of the largest child development agencies serving Alameda, Contra Costa, and Santa Clara Counties. Kidango has an immediate opening for a full-time Behavioral Health Clinician for Santa Clara County.
The Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for providing direct mental health services to children birth to five years old for the EPSDT program.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Intake Services: assess appropriate referrals, conduct intake interviews, and complete necessary paperwork.
- Provide therapeutic services within Scope of Practice and Competency level for children ages 0-5 in the EPSDT program.
- Assessment of social, emotional, and development of children birth to 5 years old and completing an Assessment for Intervention (AFI) report
- Certification in the CANS assessment tool
- Establish and implement quality clinical treatment services.
- Document and necessary are completed on time and by stated deadlines.
- Develop service plan goals and charting.
- Maintain and update client chart
- Provide billing reports and supporting documentation such as progress notes within the agency and county-designated timelines
- Attend Clinical and Quality Chart review meetings as assigned.
- Communicate respectfully with professional and paraprofessional staff and other community members
- Provide appropriate referrals to community resources.
- Report all suspected child abuse according to laws and regulations.
- Attend regularly scheduled training and community meetings as assigned.
- Collaborate with childcare centers providing consultation and training as needed.
- Able to work in a non-traditional setting.
- Position requires travel to varying locations.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s or Doctorate Degree in psychology, social work, or related field.
- Licensed MFT, LSCW, PhD., PsyD or License Eligible (BBS)
- 5+ years in the field of social services preferred.
- 2+ years in the field of infant and early childhood mental health preferred.
- Bilingual preferred: Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Mandarin, or Cantonese
- Training working with birth to five populations.
- Experience with multi-cultural communities.
- Experience working with young children 0-5 and their families.
- Familiar with principles of early childhood mental health assessment, treatment, and diagnosis.
- Self-motivated; ability to work both semi-independently and in cooperation with others.
- Strong case management skills, intake & assessment skills, cultural competency.
- Effective and strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of early childhood development, mental health, and attachment.
- Ability to exercise good judgment clinically, legally, and ethically and to consult with supervisor as needed.
- Ability to make decisions and multi-task.
- The ability to travel to locations throughout Santa Clara County may require long periods of sitting.
- Ability to make assessments and create appropriate service plans with good follow-through.
- Ability to communicate clearly with treatment team both verbally and in writing.
- Flexibility: willing to see clients in a clinical setting, in the community, in clients' homes, and, occasionally, work evenings and/or weekends. Ability to provide leadership, accept responsibility, work independently and set own goals in a professional manner
- Ability to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously and able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PROVIDER PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Job duties will be performed out in the community and an office environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.
- The ability to lift to 20lbs may be needed during some job duties.
- The role will require long periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
- The employee will be required to use hands for computer work, answering phones calls…etc.
