Job Summary:
The Campus Safety Officer serves by providing campus-wide public safety for college faculty, staff, students and visitors in coordination with local law enforcement and emergency personnel. Duties include patrolling campus property while enforcing safety regulations. While on patrol, responsibilities include the following:
Essential Functions:
- Patrol campus grounds and buildings to deter and detect criminal activity, respond to emergencies, and enforce college policies and procedures.
- Provide escorts to students, faculty, and staff upon request.
- Respond to emergency situations such as fire alarms, medical emergencies, and hazardous material spills.
- Assist with parking enforcement
- Write detailed reports of incidents and provide witness statements as needed.
- Provide security for special events held on campus.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies and emergency responders as needed.
- Assist in ensuring Clery Act and Title IX compliance, including maintaining crime and incident logs, reporting incidents as required, and providing support for investigations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Core Competencies and Professional Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks such as standing, walking, and climbing stairs for extended periods of time.
