Overview:

Under the supervision of the Clinical Lab Supervisor the CA-Licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist will work in our molecular clinical laboratory. Experience in PCR and NGS testing is required. Experience with Sanger Sequencing is a plus!

We are considering applicants for FT/PT or contract work opportunities.

This new start-up lab in Irvine, CA is owned by GENinCode PLC, a predictive genetics company that focuses on the prevention of cardiovascular disease and risk of ovarian cancer.

Responsibilities and Duties:

- Independently performs clinical lab testing and other scientific examinations.

- Ensures complex molecular diagnostic assays and systems are performed under appropriate CAP/CLIA compliance and regulatory requirements.

- Performs pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical test processes and evaluate results.

- Adheres to QA/QC guidelines to ensure specimen integrity and result accuracy.

- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls and maintain their supplies.

- Performs inventory management.

- Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.

- Evaluates and monitors quality management programs such as review results, worksheets and other data for accuracy and completeness.

- Trains and provides technical guidance to laboratory assistants, new hires and provide cross training as needed.

- Maintains effective communication with supervisor on day-to-day activities.

- Operates computerized laboratory data systems/applications.

- Carries out other essential lab duties such as technical writing, standard operating procedures (SOPs), proficiency testing, and inspection preparation.

Qualifications:

- Current CA CLS license: Limited Molecular (CGMBS) or Generalist License

- Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical, or biological sciences

- 0-2 years of experience in high-complexity lab testing

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel

Physical Requirements:

- Regularly walks, stands, and sits

- Regularly works with equipment, tools, and on a computer

- Frequently lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds when receiving shipments for up to 1 hour per week

- Must be able to read and understand scientific and complex directions.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Part-time

Pay: $50.00 - $65.00 per hour
