SIGMADESIGN has collaborated with a global company seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join their facility in Wilsonville, OR. This company designs & manufactures industrial shredders & systems, primary reducers and transfer station compactors. For over 35 years they have manufactured thousands of systems, from the simple to the unique. Compensation: $25.00 - $30.00 DOE

Shift: 3:45pm – 2:15am, Monday - Thursday

Day: 7:00am - 3:45pm, Monday - Friday

Primary Function:

This position sets up and operates CNC machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing various duties.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work-piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work-piece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
  • Sets up and operates machines on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience programing and operating CNC lathes or mills.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
