POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the Enforcement and Investigative Support Bureau, reporting either to the Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse or Offender Registry sections. This position requires the ability to work in a collaborative environment, conduct research, collect data, and provide excellent customer service. The position may require working nights, weekends, shifts and on-call hours.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Positions filled from this requisition may be assigned to one of the following Enforcement & Investigative Services (EIS) units:


Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse – The Missing & Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse (MEPIC) provides analytical services for law enforcement agencies regarding missing and endangered child and adult cases and works with the public in the search and recovery of missing persons. MEPIC is responsible for the administration and issuance of Florida’s AMBER, Missing Child, Purple, and Silver Alerts which help provide each missing person with the best chance of recovery. The unit also manages the statewide Missing Persons Hotline, processes investigative leads, and maintains the public website which provides information on all active alerts, missing person photos, child safety materials, and law enforcement resources. MEPIC operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.


Offender Enforcement and ApprehensionThe Offender Enforcement & Apprehension (OEA) is tasked with the enforcement of Florida’s Sexual Offender/Predator and Career Offender registration laws. OEA investigates Florida Sexual Offenders, Sexual Predators, Career Offenders, and out of state offenders residing in Florida who may be in violation of Florida’s registration laws. OEA analysts utilize a variety of analytical tools and services to identify and locate absconded or non-compliant sexual offenders/predators and career offenders and provide assistance to EIS Inspectors in determining registration violations.


To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or in a law enforcement agency can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • Any combination of education or experience, as described above.
  • Completion of a 720-hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in law enforcement can substitute for one year of the required education.

Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of coursework from an accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of experience.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices;
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work flow, and other activities relating to the improvement of management practices;
  • Ability to organize data into logical formats for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials;
  • Ability to conduct fact finding research;
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques;
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

BASE SALARY:

Salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and training but are typically filled at the minimum of the class pay range unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy guidelines.


Crime Intelligence Analyst I

$36,468 – Bachelor’s degree*

Crime Intelligence Analyst II

$38,146– Bachelor’s degree* and one year of analytical** experience.

Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst I

$42,206 – Bachelor’s degree* and three years of analytical** experience.

Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst II

$49,043 – Bachelor’s degree* and five years of analytical** experience.

  • A master’s degree in criminology, law enforcement intelligence analysis, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis or comparable discipline; or a professional certificate in one of these disciplines can substitute for one year of experience.

**Analytical experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year- for-year basis. Analytical experience must be in the fields of: criminal intelligence, military intelligence, crime analysis or investigative experience in a law enforcement agency.

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating strong skills in critical thinking; analytical research and interpretation; developing and delivering presentations and training to internal FDLE members, as well as, other law enforcement agencies throughout Florida. Applicants should possess excellent multi-tasking skills.
  • As a member of a law enforcement agency, during any critical incident or disaster (both natural and man-made), these positions may be designated as an essential service position for a given period. During this time, you may be required to work after normal business hours, during office closures, or during weekends and/or holidays when needed.
  • This Crime Intelligence Analyst position is included in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Intelligence Analyst Progression Plan. The plan provides professional development training and advancement opportunities to enhance FDLE’s investigative strategy and promote development within the crime analysis field.
  • MEPIC operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Positions within the MEPIC unit require rotating shifts to include working nights, weekends and holidays. Members assigned to work evening and night shifts will receive shift differential pay. Due to the critical nature of alert calls for missing persons, candidates must have the ability to operate effectively under time constraints in high stress situations. All positions require contact with the public and other law enforcement entities. All positions require travel for trainings throughout Florida. Positions within the OEA unit are responsible for traveling and providing court testimony regarding sexual offender / predator cases throughout the state and may also include working nights, weekends and holidays.
