The NYC Business Integrity Commission is responsible for regulating the private carting industry and public wholesale markets. The commission serves as both a regulatory and law enforcement agency; in order to carry out our mission, we are staffed with NYPD police officers, attorneys, investigators, auditors, licensing specialists and various professionals tasked to fulfill the mission. The Information Technology Unit is looking for a person who thrives on working with data to support our staff’s and agency’s needs. Our Data Analyst will work on various projects that may include criminal investigations, support for creating legislation that positively impacts the City of New York or the environment overall. We are looking for candidates that want to make a difference, through the use of their talents, for the City of New York.
Under supervision of the Director of Information Technology, the responsibilities of the Data Analyst will include, but are not limited to:

- Perform analytics tasks using individual or case level data, including running queries, conducting analyses and developing reports using basic quantitative methods
- Respond to a variety of analytic and informational requests
- Provide written and graphic summaries of key issues and analytic findings
- Perform quality checks on data input by staff
- Participate in special projects as needed
Minimum Qual Requirements
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Preferred Skills
- Experience with advanced data analytical tools
- Proficient in Excel (filtering, summation, sorting, pivot tables)
- Experience working with SQL/MYSQL datasets and environments
- Ability to present complex information to audiences of different levels
- Ability to collaborate effectively and work as part of a team
- Experience managing data within the Salesforce environment with preference given to individuals holding a current “Certified Salesforce Administrator” certification
- Use of Python scripting to manage data

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
