Essential Job Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategic initiatives around the management, analysis and monitoring of auto insurance products to achieve consistent profitable growth.
This includes strategic initiatives designed to enhance our Competitive Intelligence, Reporting and analysis of key performance metrics, as well as Auto Insurance Product and Rate Revision analytics
Develop and implement new product features to achieve improved product segmentation and differentiation in a highly competitive auto insurance marketplace.
Coordinating auto insurance product initiatives with IT, Marketing, Sales, Compliance, Finance and other areas throughout the enterprise to ensure that all product initiatives are compliant with our standard processes/procedures, state regulations, and align with overall company strategies.
Analyzing monthly and quarterly financial results while identifying and developing strategies around areas of opportunity for product changes and take necessary actions to meet corporate goals.
Communicating results and action plans with staff members, associates in other departments, and members of the Executive Team on frequent basis.
Consult with Senior Vice President of Product as part of the Senior Leadership Team within Product on items related to the overall mission and objectives of the department.
Mentor and coach associates to develop skills, increase job knowledge and achieve stated performance objectives.
Set goals and objectives for staff, providing annual appraisals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience/Skills Requirements
Minimum of five to seven years of demonstrated proficiency as a product manager with extensive insurance knowledge preferably with the non-standard product.
Specific knowledge of the states in which PGC does business.
Demonstrated knowledge of either the Independent Agent or Direct Distribution Channels.
Prior experience in mentoring/coaching/developing product management talent.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PP, etc.) is expected.
Superior technical product knowledge in regards to market analysis, product segmentation and rate/rule and forms filings.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and advanced mathematical modeling (multi-variate analysis, multiple regression)
Excellent communication, presentation, persuasion, time management, strategic planning and analytical skills are required.
Demonstrates the ability to develop, present, and execute effective business plans and budgets to meet corporate goals.
Demonstrates expertise with DOI and legal regulations as pertains to P&C insurance products and services.
Demonstrates extensive knowledge and expertise in the interpretation of data to develop strategic/tactical plans for pricing structures and underwriting selections
Ability to research, use and interpret information which requires refining and improving existing methods of analysis and/or developing new ideas
Ability to effectively communicate – oral and written – to various internal and external contacts (Senior Executives, Board Members, other departments, Department of Insurance, agents, vendors etc)
Proven organization, follow-through and time management skills needed.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (Marketing, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Insurance, etc) required.
MBA or graduate degree – highly preferred.
This position is a hybrid role that involves working a minimum of 10 days per month in the office.
