Rue Insurance’s Employee Benefits Consultants are responsible for obtaining and retaining Group Employee Benefits clients. Employee Benefits Consultants actively contact prospects and clients to develop relationships in order to promote profitable agency growth that meets or exceeds annual sales goals.
Reports to: Sales Manager Department: Sales
Work Schedule & Classification: Full-time, exempt position
Duties & Responsibilities (but not limited to):
· Generate new business sales by actively contacting prospects and following the agency sales process
· Maintain an active new business pipeline with multiple prospects in various pipeline stages; show evidence of prospect movement along those stages; and track prospects and movement within agency management system
· Schedule appointments with prospects to perform interactive sales presentations
· Gather relevant business and underwriting information to provide proposals tailored to the specific needs of each client or prospect
· Provide advice and recommendations to clients and prospects to ensure appropriate coverage is offered and meets minimum agency requirements
· Build a referral network by developing relationships with centers of influence at other companies, peers, networking groups, clients, members of other departments, and senior management
· Introduce clients to the full range of products and services offered by Rue and actively cross-sell clients and prospects to other departments within the organization
· Build & maintain positive client relationships by following a formal client relationship program with clients
· Follow the agency renewal process
· Maintain awareness, learning and technical knowledge of insurance coverages, insurance industry changes, emerging risks and funding options, competition, carriers and other areas of business acumen that enable you to provide client and prospect advice and limits the agency’s E&O exposure
· Follow the agency documentation requirements and processes by recording applicable client and prospect information and interactions in the agency management system
· Deliver first-class customer service by communicating clearly with clients to continually set, meet, and exceed expectations
· Incorporate and regularly practice techniques and strategies introduced through sales training to continuously enhance skills and related performance
· Identify target industry niches and build proficiency in them by joining and participating in corresponding associations and networking groups
· Actively participate in Sales, Department and Company meetings by sharing experiences, account knowledge, selling strategies, etc.
· Develop, meet and exceed annual goals
· Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner at all times
· Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by Agency Management
Qualifications & Education:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred
· 2-4 years successful business-to-business consultative sales experience with employee benefits sales experience preferred
· Valid Life & Health Licenses preferred
· Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong negotiation skills and attention to detail
· Highly motivated and organized
· Energetic, dedicated team player
· Basic computer knowledge and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
· Knowledge of Applied Systems EPIC preferred
Physical Requirements: Must be capable of sitting for a long period of time. Walking and driving is required. No lifted required.
