POSITION SUMMARY

If you are high energy, love working with horses and people too, this may be a great fit for you! Ease with handling horses and people is a must. Your duties would include assisting the Veterinarian on appointments, follow-up care of animals in our clinic or in the field, some treatments and managing follow-ups with our clients. The job of a Veterinary Technician is a physically and emotionally challenging position that requires highly self-motivated individuals with the ability to handle high-stress situations and work long hard days with a great positive attitude!

The position is also responsible for maintaining key performance indicators and has clear intention to improve in their personal, professional and financial goals. Ultimately, the role requires the technician to be skilled in all medical terminology and client communication while being solution oriented, able to be inspiring to others, have the patients best interest in mind and come from the aspect of help at all times.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

We work with horse and canine athletes of all disciplines, to service their sports medicine and rehabilitation needs of our patients. We are located on a beautiful 23 acre facility in Ocala, Florida with a full Sports Medicine, surgery and rehabilitation facility. We work with horse athletes of all disciplines, to service all sports medicine and rehabilitation needs of our patients.

OBJECTIVES

  • Update Client and Patient Records
  • Give treatments to horses boarding with us for rehab and post surgical care
  • Aid the Veterinarian with appointments, prepurchases, and emergency calls Maintain an organized and clean environment
  • Work with the Veterinarians on creating Health Certificates and Coggins
  • Send estimates and Follow up with Clients
  • Provide excellent customer service to our clients by answering all their questions and concerns regarding their patients within 24 hours or less with a pleasant manner.
  • Complete business management training in order to have a thorough understanding of the overall business model
  • Keep up to date on job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional regulations.
  • Be a mentor to interns and students
  • Represent the company at events such as horse shows, horse races, and charity events.

COMPETENCIES

  • Basic Technician training
  • Strong communication skills between clients and executive staff
  • Basic Horse Knowledge
  • Comfortable handling horses

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma (required)
  • 1 –2 years Previous Technician Experience (Preferred)
  • Bilingual (Preferred)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of working with horses are expected
  • This position might require travel to horse shows or horse sales
  • Should be able to work 40 hours a week and occasionally more
