GIS/CAD Professional

First Environment, Inc., a leading environmental consulting services company that provides strategic environmental and engineering services throughout the U.S., has an immediate opening in their Northern New Jersey headquarters for a GIS/CAD Professional.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Creation: Create and process spatial data from various sources including GPS devises, aerial photographs, Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, CSVs, AutoCAD files, Google Earth KMZs, historical maps and drawings, field measurements, and satellite imagery
  • Data Management: Use geodatabases or folder storage systems and file naming conventions on a project-by-project basis. Prepare detailed, compliant metadata for spatial data deliverables.
  • Data Analysis: Use a variety of geoprocessing and spatial analysis tools such as clip, buffer, intersect, interpolation and contouring tools, geocoding, spatial joins, etc. Work with vector and raster data from a local to a national scale. Identify appropriate coordinate system for each project.
  • Data Presentation: Create report maps and drawings to display fieldwork and data analysis results. Create larger scaled visual demonstratives using report figures, historic aerial photographs, drone photogrammetry and other visual tools to display data results, trends and modeling results to judges and juries in litigation cases.
  • Data Identification: Identify publicly available datasets at the municipal, county, state, and federal level.
  • Communication and Time Management: Communicate with project managers and field personnel to produce accurate and effective report deliverables in accordance with deadlines. Produce deliverables in a cost-efficient manner.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in environmental engineering, science, geology, hydrogeology, or GIS a plus
  • 3 - 5 years relevant experience
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, ArcGIS (Desktop and Online), and MS Office software applications
  • Working knowledge of environmental site investigation / site remediation activities, and/or government regulatory a plus. [LS1] Familiarity with GPS device software and ArcGIS Field Apps for mobile data collection
  • High degree of self-motivation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification a plus
  • Knowledge of Adobe CC (Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign) a plus
