Job Summary

Perform preventative and break/fix maintenance/repairs to printing and converting machinery as directed. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control problems using equipment manuals, drawings, and schematics while following proper safety protocols. Follow GMPs and good housekeeping protocols as well as other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance Shift Lead or Maintenance Manager.

Essential Job Functions

  • Working ability to trouble-shoot and diagnose most mechanical or electrical issues.
  • Working ability to troubleshoot most mechanical, electrical, and control problems using manuals, drawings, and schematics.
  • Working ability to diagnose most issues and make repairs to print deck components, make gear changes, calibrate/align optical scanners, perform roll changes, wire multitap motors.
  • Working ability to diagnose most issues and make repairs to hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or dryer systems.
  • Working ability to identify broken or worn components in machines.
  • Working ability to perform stick, MIG and TIG welding.
  • Working ability to perform machining operations using a lathe, Bridgeport, or drill press.
  • Ability to follow guidance and direction from more experienced mechanics in all aspects of maintenance.
  • Fundamental ability to research replacement components and parts to include suitable substitutes.
  • Ability to follow all established safety rules and regulations and utilize required safety equipment.
  • Ability to identify defective equipment or unsafe conditions and report to the Maintenance Lead or manager.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
  • Work with other mechanics to accomplish shift objectives and projects as directed.
  • Take direction from the Maintenance Shift Lead of the Maintenance Manager.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Solid understanding of methodologies relating to troubleshooting, preventative and predictive maintenance, and theory of operation.
  • Working knowledge and experience with electricity/electronics, controls (industrial process), and mechanics.
  • Solid understanding of preventive and proactive maintenance steps on equipment, ability to diagnose basic mechanical problems, and basic electrical issues.
  • Fundamental ability to read and understand, manuals, (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical drawings), company policies, and procedures.
  • Proficiency with using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to safely work around active machinery, loud noise, and in awkward positions
  • Fundamental computer skills.
  • Basic understanding of PLC inputs and outputs and troubleshooting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical environment of manufacturing, machinery, and production facilities
  • Exposure includes but is not limited to continuous noise, scent of materials, bright workstations, machinery with moving parts
  • On feet for approx. 8-12 hours daily on concrete floors
  • Period lifting of pallets weight and material weighing up to 50lbs
  • Squatting, crouching, turning, twisting, stretching, climbing steps, grabbing, pulling, pushing, and bending.
  • Ishiahara machine eye exam for perfect color
