The Manager of Government Affairs will assist the Government Affairs team in planning, organizing, promoting, and implementing quality legislative priorities and advocacy for the Chamber membership and Tulsa regional partners; recruiting, training, and supporting candidates for public office through assistance with the Chambers Political Action Committees; managing several OneVoice Task Forces; assisting in tracking relevant bills on the state and federal levels; and researching and producing white papers on key state and federal issues.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Government Affairs team to develop and promote the Tulsa Regional OneVoice Legislative Agenda, Tulsa Regional Chamber Legislative Priorities, and Joint Tulsa/Oklahoma City Chambers Legislative Agenda.
  • Engage in the legislative process at the State Capitol by monitoring legislation important to the OneVoice and Tulsa Chamber agendas, and working to advance those legislative issues.
  • Manage issue-specific legislative task forces, including the recruitment of volunteer task force chairs and members. Issues may include the following: energy, natural resources, transportation, economic development, general government, legal reform, small business, and others.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with local, state, county, and federal elected officials.
  • Conduct research and analysis on federal, state and local policy issues.
  • Prepare, write and disseminate quality research-based issue briefs, alerts, and reports.
  • Assist where needed to organize and manage all legislative events including Congressional Forums, Governors State of the State, Mayors State of the City, Washington D.C. Fly-In, Tulsa Regional Day at the Capitol, Legislative Briefing Breakfasts, and other events.
  • Work with the Senior Vice President of Government Affairs to assist with the Tulsa Regional Chambers political action committees.
  • Attend public meetings for City Council, County Commission, and state legislature where appropriate.
  • Attend INCOG, CTAG and other public meetings related to legislative policies within the region and state.
  • Assist on political communications strategies for the Tulsa Regional Chambers top political priorities, including talking points, inclusion of key stakeholders, and best methods of delivery.
  • Oversee weekly Legislative Updates e-newsletter for Chamber members and OneVoice.
  • Work with the Government Affairs team to update contact lists for the Chambers OneVoice task force members, keeping them informed and receiving feedback on our top state and federal priorities.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.


  • Bachelors degree required and 2-3 years experience in politics or government relations.
  • General knowledge of the political process at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and objectives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments within complex political dynamics.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop and foster relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of working in teams and autonomously.
  • Capable to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.

Work and Physical Requirements:

  • Work environment: Normally a typical office environment with people, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, with occasional outdoor exposure to heat, cold, and environmental elements.
  • Physical demands: Manipulate, handle, feel, and control items or equipment. Able to read, write, and interpret written documents. Occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
