Job Summary

Repairs and maintains mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment such as twist cord, sewing thread, cosmolon twister, and cord knitters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate cuases of malfunctions. Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem area. Inspects parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
• Removes and replaces worn or defective parts of drive mechanisms, or hydraulic systems. Realigns and adjusts components such as belts, and gears. Locates damaged hydraulic pipes on machine and installs new pipe. Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair.
• Repairs broken parts. Sets up and operates drill press and grinder to repair parts
• Splices wire by strippiing insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together and applying tape or terminal CAPS. Connects wiring to power equipment.
• Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches and relays. Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric motors.
• Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electricla compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter and voltmeter. Observes function of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement. Repairs faulty electrical equipment or systems as may be necessary.
• Performs other related work as may be required by management

Qualifications and Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED (minimum)
• Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs
• Use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices and electrical equipment. Must be able to read blueprints
• Must pass an online Mechanic's test administered onsite

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is required to wear appropriate safety protective equipment at the proper times and in the proper environments as required by safety program rules.
