Mechanical & Facilities Drafter
Position Summary
Valley Wide is searching for an enthusiastic CAD Drafter that will prepare drawings and documents for design, permitting, operation, maintenance, and the construction of industrial facilities. Some typical project types are mines, processing facilities and manufacturing. Drawing components include iso’s, general arrangements, pipe modeling, welded assemblies, structural designs, 3D scans and geo-referenced aerial imagery. The CAD Drafter will be responsible to review as-built documentation / 3D scans for accuracy, report findings, and incorporate red line as-built information into existing drawings in various formats.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate / bachelor’s degree or one-year work experience
- Related work experience or drafting coursework
Duties and Responsibilities
- Use the latest version of AutoCAD to prepare design drawings with plan, profile, section, and detail views as designated by the engineering team
- Prepare sketches of details not included on existing drawings to accurately reflect as-installed field conditions
- Prepare 3-Dimensional computer-generated models, prepare new drawings, and perform drawing changes consistent with company and nationally recognized procedures and standards (e.g. ANSI, ASME, MIL-STD, IEEE, etc.)
- Prepare drawings, forms, maps, and lists provided by VWC project management or client’s engineers
- Visualize the project installation and provide quality control for practicality and constructability of designs
- Maintain excellent project communication with continuously changing tools and processes
- Provide accurate time estimates to complete assigned tasks
- Complete job summary and construction notes for review by project engineers
- Prepare exhibits for planning/permitting purposes
- Meet required deadlines and exceed client expectations
- Work closely with other client project teams and VWC project team
- Occasionally assist project management team with bid packages, estimates, take offs, submittals, RFI’s, scheduling, etc.
- Applicant must provide own drafting programs and technology to complete the work in accordance to client’s request.
- Majority of the work would be completed at applicant’s local home office. Travel will be required occasionally for job walks, new projects, and meetings.

- Produce accurate, well documented designs using the proper processes, techniques, and templates in compliance with VWC procedures and client standards

Specific Skills
- Knowledge of AutoCAD 2015/2016; 2D, 3D and Civil 3D
- Knowledge of Point Clouds
- Knowledge of Trimble Products
- ArcGIS understanding desired
- Beginning to intermediate skill level using Microstation V8i is desired
- Proficient use of MS Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Must be a self-starter and work independently with conflicting deadlines
- Must be able to work well in a team environment
- Understanding of document control applications such as Vault and ProjectWise
- Problem solving and critical-thinking skills in designing engineering plans
- Produce quality drawings and provide constructive peer reviews
