Medical Associates of Northern New Mexico in Los Alamos is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to provide excellent patient care. This is offered as a full-time or part-time position. Our multi-specialty office has 15 providers and sees over 3,000 patients a month. We are a fast-paced clinic composed of passionate people dedicated to serving patients. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following safety standards and procedures.
  • Serve and protect the practice by adhering to professional medical standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements and maintaining patient confidence.
  • Continuously communicates with provider concerning cancellations, reschedules, no-shows, add-ons, and specific needs of patients on the schedule; and performs any task the provider requests.
  • Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointment in a timely manner.
  • Prep charts to assure that all information required for patient visit is available for the provider.
  • Verify patient information by interviewing the patient, accurately recording medical, family and social history; confirming the purpose of visit; and asking the patient if they need any medication refills.
  • Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, heart rate, weight, height, blood oxygen level and temperature. If needed, drape the patient with covering and position instruments and equipment as needed for the incoming provider.
  • Proficient in the use of eCW or the current electronic medical record system; respond promptly and efficiently to telephone/web encounters and ePrescriptions.
  • Provide appropriate forms for provider in a timely manner, as needed.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a provider.
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments, following OSHA safety protocol, in a timely manner.
  • Transmit prescription refills and/or administer vaccinations as directed by provider, in a timely manner.
  • Enhance practice reputation by accepting ownership for work ethic, attendance, and excellent customer service; explore opportunities to add job value.

Required skills:

  • Working knowledge and experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Experience using an EMR Electronic Medical Record system
  • Precise attention to detail

Pay: $16.00-$20.00
