Job description
Experiential Learning & Career Success (ELCS) is dedicated to supporting students from their first day on campus at the University of Montana (UM) to their first day on the job, and beyond. ELCS helps students tie their unique passion, personality, potential, and academic plans together to connect experiences, grow, and learn as a whole person. UM students address the needs of the community, as identified through collaboration with community or tribal partners, while meeting instructional objectives through faculty-structured service and critical reflection meant to prepare students to be civically responsible members of the community. UM's signature career readiness program, ElevateU, is built to enhance participants' career readiness and marketability so students graduate with a degree in hand, broadly educated, and specifically skilled. ElevateU prepares participants for a meaningful career by integrating exploratory and skill-building opportunities throughout students' UM experience. Through ElevateU, participants explore career pathways, grow from enriching out-of-class experiences, set and embrace professional goals, and elevate to their desired career path beyond graduation. 22 online learning journeys are available that support and strengthen career preparation on the following topics including, but not limited to Self-Awareness, Career Awareness, Career Exploration, Personal Branding, Professional Relationships, and Professional Skills. ELCS supports students in their career search using an online platform called Handshake, which includes listings from 700+ Missoula employers, 1,400+ Montana employers, and 5K+ regional employers. ELCS's mission is to help students maximize their education through engaging experiences and intentional planning, preparing them for success today and tomorrow. ELCS envisions a campus culture that fuels student passions and promotes innovative pathways to achievement.
