Salary Range: $69,000 to $103,000
Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education and experience. THE ENGINEERING TEAM

As a part of this department, you can expect to work closely with our project management and field installation teams to streamline the construction process.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a PV Designer II/Engineer Level II with functional knowledge in designing small- and large-scale solar PV/BESS power systems ranging from 1 to 500+ MW. This position evaluates and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Assignments may include work that is typical of a higher level. Receives close supervision, instruction and assistance on assignments, complex features, and possible solutions. Work is reviewed for correctness and application of the QAQC Process and professional judgment.
The PV Designer II will perform design and drafting tasks assigned by Designers or Engineers, perform the design of construction drawings including, but not limited to equipment layouts, electrical site plans, and electrical diagrams, and prepare supporting calculations of the PV field DC and AC collection electrical infra-structure design including but not limited to equipment, conductor, conduit, and OCPD sizing, and voltage drop/power loss.
Scope of work includes assembling design drawings and documents and provide or coordinate delivery, provide engineering support and follow QAQC processes through design and construction phases.
ABOUT YOU
You have approximately one to two years of experience working for an electrical design firm or design build electrical contractor with a solar electrical systems background. You have exceptional problem-solving, communication, time management, and people skills. Your eye for detail is unmatched, which is necessary to organize files and sort tasks according to urgency. Additionally, you have a natural ability to effectively communicate and present technical information verbally and in writing via Microsoft Suite applications – Excel and Word. You are adaptable, remaining flexible and open to change and growth. Your technical skills include the following:
- AutoCAD (advanced proficiency)
- Microsoft Office Applications (advanced proficiency)
- PVsyst (desired)
WHAT YOU WILL GAIN
As a Designer II at Cupertino Electric, Inc. (CEI), you will develop knowledge of the Engineering department’s design and CAD/BIM workflows. Your knowledge in fundamental power and lighting systems, as well as an understanding State and National Codes governing our work, will grow and expand. In this role, you can expect to develop and maintain professional and technical development goals in order to acquire EIT certification. While this position is generally performed in an office environment, you may have the opportunity attend site visits as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Electrical Engineer or similar Bachelor of Science degree required.
Licensure/Certifications: Engineer-in-Training Certification (EIT) preferred
Experience: One (1) to two (2) working for an electrical design firm or design build electrical contractor required. Solar electrical systems background required.
