POSITION SUMMARY

The Receiver processes incoming and outgoing shipments of goods while maintaining a clean and organized work space, accurately accounting for goods, and ensuring efficient flow to all departments while providing genuine, helpful, and respectful customer service to vendors and staff based on the ethical values of cooperatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Upholds all Co-op policies, procedures and expectations.
  • Receiving Operations
    • This position spends an average of 75% of its time performing Receiving responsibilities and 25% of its time performing Department Support.
    • Log all incoming deliveries in the receiving log including date of delivery and all necessary documentation.
    • Inspect all goods received to verify that quality meets SNFCs standards.
    • Count all product received, verifying that actual goods match associated invoices, pick slips, or and packing lists.
    • Maintain a file of packing slips and pick lists and match them with mailed invoices.
    • Code invoices with proper purchase and expense accounts.
    • Promptly notify appropriate department personnel when goods are received and verify that goods are properly routed to designated areas.
    • Record credits in credit log and notify vendors of credits and returns daily.
    • Verify that credit memos are received for credits recorded.
    • Maintain working knowledge of common carrier (UPS, FedEx, etc.) systems for shipping goods out and prepare goods for shipping as needed.
    • Maintain a neat and orderly receiving area and preserve unobstructed traffic flow, including creating cardboard bales and removing empty pallets and trash as needed.
    • Maintain area for products waiting to be returned and assure that vendors pick up and remove return items from the premises.
    • Keep alleyway and receiving dock clean and organized.
  • Department Support
    • Accept assignment to departments as directed by manager-on-duty, depending on store need.
    • Receive direction from appropriate department managers.
    • Stock and rotate products following appropriate Department procedures.
    • Dust, wipe down, front and face products to achieve an attractive retail presentation.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of products, back stock locations, and stocking supplies for all departments.
    • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of building perimeter, sales floor, and department work areas.
    • Adhere to proper safety procedures in all departments.

    • Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills
    • Use Email, website and time clock software proficiently.
  • Operational Equipment Skills
    • Operate a forklift.
    • Operate an electric stacker.
    • Operate a pallet jack.
    • Operate a cardboard baler and a compactor.
    • Operate a hand truck and other equipment carts.
