Job Summary
The successful applicant for this position will assist the faculty member in the daily activities of their research lab. Specific broad research areas of investigation will include both histology and pharmacology. In addition to providing assistance to all research personnel, applicant will perform a variety of routine and non-routine research experiments (specially using cell and tissue based model systems), prepare biological assays and conduct basic quantitative and qualitative analysis, maintain records of all tests performed and data collected, prepare various reports and participate in lab meetings.

Essential Functions
- Develops or assists in the development of complex project proposals, plans, and protocols.
- Conducts non-routine experiments, investigations and/or studies related to programs and projects in pursuit of new knowledge, techniques and concepts.
- Coordinates or assists logistics of research to include equipment, materials, and labor needs.
- Collects data/samples related to others’ research and in complex cases.
- Records, compiles, processes and analyzes data/samples.
- Documents results and observations in writing as well as presenting results to others.
- May prepare research results for publication or presentation at conferences to include performing literature reviews and writing results and discussions.
- May instruct students and/or supervise others’ research in area of expertise.
- May maintain project budgets and/or coordinate funding.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Depending upon education and experience, a finalist will be selected as a Research Associate and assigned level I, II, III, or IV.
Level I requires a Master’s degree in discipline appropriate to position and no experience.
Level II requires a Master’s degree in discipline appropriate to position and 2 years’ experience in research practices and protocols.
Level III requires a Master’s degree in discipline appropriate to position and 4 years’ experience, including at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.
Level IV requires a Master’s degree in discipline appropriate to position and 6 years’ experience, including at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.
Substitutions allowed for Education:
Indicated education is required; no substitutions allowed.
Substitutions allowed for Experience:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
