Position: Education Coordinator

Full Time, Monday-Friday 8am-4pm

Position Overview:

Position overview: Acts as a clinical coach for all new professional staff; Functions as a resource and mentor for new professional staff

Coordinates the implementation of the Infection Control Program in order to meet agency goals and objectives and ensure that regulatory requirements are met.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred
  • Experience: Three years of progressive job related experience, including field visits and coordination of care. Prior experience as a preceptor/mentor preferred.
  • Equipment/Computer Software: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point. SigmaCare preferred.
  • License/Registration: Licensure and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State, Current CPR certification

  • Demonstrates competency in nursing practice, administration, financial management, and personnel management.

  • Evidence of the ability to plan, implement and evaluate change.
  • Strong knowledge of JCAHO standards, Medicare regulations, federal state and city regulations which pertain to home health
  • Strong knowledge of community health nursing, home health practice, standards, issues and trends

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and conducts general, nursing and certified nursing assistant orientations at nursing home facilities.
  • Monitors and evaluates progress of nurses and certified nursing assistants during orientation period.
  • Sets clear goals and expectations for staff.
  • Follows progress against goals.
  • Provides regular feedback and addresses performance issues promptly.
  • Communicates orientees’ progress to Nursing Administration orally and through written reports.
  • Develops orientation curriculum that that integrates facility policies and procedures, nursing standards of practice, adult learning theories and updates as needed.
  • Develops and administers clinical competencies which incorporate facility policies and procedures and nursing practice.
  • Provides ongoing mandatory education to all staff and develops curriculum presentations, in collaboration with other departments.
  • Develops teaching presentations on mandatory topics determined by facility administration.
  • Collaborates with ancillary department heads to determine teaching content for accuracy and according to regulatory requirements.
  • Develops evaluation tests to determine staff understanding of content taught.
  • Participates in the provision of Basic Life Support , NYS Infection Control and NYSNA- approved course offerings.
  • Participates in the design, planning and evaluation of contact-hour programs.
  • Assures that all continuing education programs are executed according to the guidelines and criteria of the NYSNA Council on Continuing Education.
  • Conducts Basic Life Support classes according to the guidelines and standards of the American Heart Association.
  • Teaches New York State-mandated Infection Control Course according to guidelines and standards set forth by regulatory policy.
  • Maintains all educational records, competencies and tests as required by Department.
  • Maintains and tracks educational attendance data.
  • Prepares educational attendance tracking reports as required.
  • Maintains accurate and easily retrievable records and filing system
  • Maintains records of all inservices as required by the Department.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $110,000.00 per year
