Excision BioTherapeutics (“Excision”) is a pre-IPO biotechnology company developing novel CRISPR-based therapies to cure viral infectious diseases and improve the lives of chronically ill patients by eliminating viral genomes from infected individuals.
Excision recently announced dosing of the first participant for Phase 1/2 Trial of EBT-101 CRISPR-based therapeutic for treatment of HIV patients.

Job Summary and Responsibilities:
Our Discovery/R&D - Genome Editing Research Team is seeking two highly motivated scientists to advance our preclinical programs for infectious diseases. The incumbents will work closely with a collaborative group of genome editing experts, virologists, bioinformaticians, preclinical scientists and clinicians. Selected candidates will have an opportunity to contribute to the CRISPR gene editing field and company growth.

Scientist / Senior Scientist, Nonviral Delivery
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Designing and executing research experiments to advance our lead programs
· Recording, summarizing and presenting experimental results in internal and external meetings
· Troubleshooting experimental problems and improving the quality of data
· Managing external companies, CROs and vendors to keep project timeline on track
· Designing and testing synthetic guide RNAs and mRNA
· Evaluating new editing platforms
Qualifications:
· PhD in Molecular / Cell Biology, Genetics, or related discipline with 0-3 years of post graduate experience or M.S. with 5+ years of industry experience
· Hands-on experiences with mammalian cell culture and non-viral gene delivery
· In-depth knowledge in molecular biology
· Previous experience in one or more of the following areas is a strong plus: CRISPR guide RNA screening, off-target assessment, lipid nanoparticle, next-generation sequencing, primary cell culture, protein engineering and DNA repair
· Strong work ethics and communication skills to build collaborative relationships with team members
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Scientist / Senior Scientist, Molecular Biology
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Designing and executing complex research experiments to advance our lead programs
· Applying state-of-the-art technologies to analyze the CRISPR gene editing outcomes
· Developing and executing bioanalytical assays
· Leading sample analysis from pre-clinical and IND-enabling animal studies
· Optimizing AAV vectors for efficient CRISPR/Cas9 delivery
· Effectively collaborating with an integrated team to ensure the success of projects; communicating and presenting research findings to various stakeholders
· Overseeing and collaborating with CROs and academic labs
Qualifications:
· PhD in Molecular / Cell Biology, Genetics, or a related discipline with minimum of 5+ years’ experience in molecular biology
· Demonstrated scientific productivity as indicated by a strong publication record or equivalent accomplishments in the industry
· Previous experience in one or more of the following areas is a strong plus: bioanalytical assay development, ddPCR, CRISPR gene editing, AAV gene therapy, infectious diseases
· Strong skills in critical thinking and problem solving
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build open and collaborative relationships with the team
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
