Job Description

The New York Times is seeking an enterprising and determined reporter to cover the often-closed-off world of the Supreme Court, bringing scrutiny, energy and accountability to the institution reshaping so much of American life. Potential stories might focus on how rulings are made, the role of the court in politics and the lives of the justices, including the dynamics between them and their outside activities, speeches, finances and legal and political allies. The reporter would work with our chief Supreme Court correspondent, and on big Supreme Court decision days would jump in on live coverage and other spot stories. Previous experience covering the judiciary is helpful but not required. The most important qualifications are energy, tenacity, creativity, a willingness to dig and an ability to write well.

The annual base pay range for this role is between $115,506.56 and $170,000.00.
