The position: We are seeking a Scrum Master II.
Work location: This is a remote position.
The Scrum Master is a servant leader responsible for supporting the team as the team members work toward accomplishing Business as Usual (BAU) work and strategic business objectives. The Scrum Master coaches the Agile team through Program Increment (PI) and iteration planning and execution activities including capacity management, mitigating issues/risk/impediments at the Agile team level, and conducting Agile team events.
- Facilitate Agile events including iteration planning, team meetings, iteration reviews, and iteration retrospectives
- Track and manage PI and iteration commitments and priorities; recognize potential slippage and new dependencies; work with Agile team and other needed resources to remove impediments and support the team and team deliverables
- Recognize, manage and mitigate risks, issues, and blockers; find and expedite resolutions and make sure appropriate escalation paths are taken and solutions are executed
- Foster the pursuit of relentless improvement in the Agile team
- Develop and support Agile Team Members:
- Act as a servant leader and coach to support a team
- Build a positive, trusting, and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgement, with an emphasis on problem-solving
- Guide the team on how to use Agile practices and values; assess the maturity of the team and coach them to higher levels of maturity at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team
- Communication:
- Effectively communicate the status of deliverables to Release Train Engineers and Product Owners
- Facilitate discussion, decision-making, and conflict resolution on the Agile team
- Effectively represent the team at Scrum of Scrums meetings by communicating status, cross-team dependencies, risks and issues, blockers
- A minimum of three years related experience managing projects
- SAFe® Scrum Master (SSM) certification or ability to obtain within one year of start date
- Working knowledge of the Agile framework or method (i.e. Scrum, Kanban)
- Ability to act as servant leader and coach to foster an environment of empowering team members by encouraging collaboration, transparency, continual improvement, creativity, learning and development, and critical thinking
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels in the organization; effective at facilitation and negotiation
- Collaborate and work effectively with individuals inside and outside the organization
- Act decisively with sound judgement; uses qualitative and quantitative information to analyze options and form opinions
- Uses technical knowledge and skills to effectively acquire and apply information
- Ability to navigate positively in a fast-paced, changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment
- Demonstrate effectiveness and efficiency, support process improvement, support and generate innovative ideas, and show a commitment to relentless improvement
- Ability to proactively anticipate and act on information and details needed to complete tasks with some support and direction
- Bachelor's degree in a specific content area (Math, Science, English Language Arts), Business, Project Management, Business Analysis or other related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired
- A minimum of one year of applied work in an Agile environment
