Overview:
The Residential Business Unit is looking for a Senior Engineer to join their Test Lab. This position is on-site in the Melville, NY office.
The Senior Engineer is responsible for providing exceptional testing skills and demonstrable leadership, along with experience validating commercial products. Must have outstanding communication and technical skills necessary to interact effectively with members of the engineering and management teams across the organization.

- Lead the development and execution of quality test plans for complex systems which may include hardware, embedded firmware and application software
- Test plans include functional, performance, robustness, reliability, usability and regulatory compliance testing
- Develop testing tools and systems using a programming language and/or test development tools such as Labview, PC etc.
- Perform specialized and long-term testing and research projects
- Provide litigation support in the form of evidence analysis and cause and effect testing of exemplar devices
- Perform safety inspections and testing on Leviton merchandise displays
- Lead the development of internal ISO quality control procedures
- Provide instruction to test technicians in proper test procedure development, execution and safety
- Lead product test review meetings demonstrating product quality and maturity
- Lead the development of manufacturing test procedures, training manufacturing staff in the execution thereof and assist in troubleshooting manufacturing test issues
- Mentor and coach junior test engineers and technicians
- Assist Test Lab supervisor and management as required
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 8 years R&D Engineering test experience is typically required
- Experience as a test lead or supervisor is typically required
Skills & Abilities
- Must have a full working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and materials engineering and processes
- Must have a strong understanding of electrical wiring systems. single and multiphase, and devices
- Must have a strong knowledge of AC/DC electrical and transformer theory
- Must have a thorough knowledge of test equipment, tools and machining processes
- Must have strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Must be capable of working with electronics lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, ammeters, voltmeters and basic hand tools including soldering
- Must be able to read and interpret technical procedures, circuit diagrams, schematics, and specification
- Must have excellent organizational skills, follow through skills and attention to detail
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
Travel
- Limited travel, less than 5% required
