Key Responsibilities:
The Specialist of Global Response Communications will be responsible for assisting the Global Response Communications team in marshalling a coordinated cross-divisional response to issues as they arise. This position will also be responsible for maintaining the media e-mail inbox as well as the media relations phone number to ensure all inquiries are documented and handled appropriately.
Assist global response communications team in finding facts, helping coordinate responses, updating team on media inquiries
Develop understanding of several issues within the company and be able to help craft messaging that effectively delivers a positive message
Work cross-functionally with several departments within United
Monitor and update media inbox and phone number and assign inquiries as they come in
Work closely with Global Response and Social Media Intelligence team and have a full understanding of how social media affects the aviation industry
Manage news release distribution and United’s newsroom

Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree in related field
2+ years working in a Corporate Communications environment
Experience working cross functionally within corporate environment
Experience or understanding of working directly with media in all mediums: print, radio, blog, television, social media
Understanding of current media landscape and what is and is not a story
Ability to plan, manage and develop corporate brand, image and public relations programs in order to raise public awareness of the company and its accomplishments as well as to safeguard the company’s image and reputation
Ability to plan, manage and develop strategic corporate and employee communications programs
Able to work with all levels of employees and management as well as with outside agencies
Ability to multitask many different projects at the same time
Ability to develop messaging, and integrated communications plans and strategies
Analytical thought process with high integrity
Execution and process oriented, forward thinking, diligent and creative
Capacity to deliver against quality, timing and cost targets
Trustworthy with material confidential information
Able to work effectively and efficiently in cross-functional teams
Superior business writing and editing skills
Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills
Promotes open communication within the department and the division
Motivational and persuasion skills
