Education

PhD or Master's degree with specialized training or Bachelor's degree with extensive specialized training applicable to special needs of task. Prefer one of the following: PE, PMP or other industry or professional license or certification.

Experience

25 or more years of experience; 20 or more years in a highly specialized area applicable to the special or unique needs of the task; recognized as a national leader in applicable subject matter.

The Disciplined Operations Mentor (DOM) position is needed to bring additional judgment, experience, and knowledge to mentor LANL managers to implement and/or improve a disciplined approach to conducting technical operations. The DOM s primary role is to provide in-field support for the day-to-day conduct of operations through an inter-active coaching and mentoring process with the manager/management team(s) to which they are assigned. The DOM program entails the designation and deployment of seasoned individuals who possess the requisite operational experience, knowledge and aptitude required to effectively mentor (coach) management and staff in the field as they conduct their day-to-day operations. The DOM may support the manager in preparing for or oversight of activities such as the startup of a new operation, integrated work document (IWD) development, plan of the day/week meetings, the conduct of a high-hazard task planning and ROC drills, and/or the field oversight of a complex activities where there would be a benefit to having additional observers present focus on learning and improvements in disciplined operations.
