Trends Publisher, Cell Press
We have an exciting opening for a Publisher role at Cell Press to manage the existing Trends journals as well as oversee the continued growth and strategic development of the Trends journal portfolio.
Key responsibilities:
  • Manage the Cell Press Trends journal portfolio, including direct and indirect line management of Trends editors
  • Work with Trends editors on strategic journal development and management
  • Devise clear strategic plans for content management and growth
  • Develop proposals for future evolution of the Trends titles, with a focus on open access
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within the company
  • Represent Cell Press/Elsevier externally to the research and publishing communities
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities for the Cell Press portfolio
  • Integrate Trends journals into the Cell Press ecosystem
What you will bring:
  • At least 7 years of experience in the publishing industry with at least 3 years people management experience
  • Demonstrated publishing expertise or comparable business and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven track record of working independently to achieve business goals
  • Team leadership and motivation skills
  • A clear understanding of business models and open access publishing
  • A creative and innovative problem-solving attitude
  • Strong networking, diplomacy, and collaboration skills
  • An ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • An advanced degree, in an area of science covered by Cell Press is preferred
This is an exciting development opportunity for the right candidate to play a key role in ongoing development of these important aspects of the overall Cell Press publishing business. Our preference is for a candidate based in one of the main Cell Press office locations (Cambridge MA, London, Oxford, Amsterdam, Beijing/Shanghai) but we would also be open to considering other locations and working arrangements.
