Shifts available:
Paraprofessional (educational support): (7:00am-3:00pm)
Youth Care Counselor- Evenings with weekend availability: (3pm-11pm) (11:00pm-7:00am)
Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center has immediate openings for Direct Care staff. Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center is a residential treatment center for emotionally and behaviorally at-risk adolescent girls that helps them achieve a positive, healthy future. MMYTC is located on a 120-acre campus surrounded by National Forest, 25 minutes from the town of Prescott Valley, Arizona. Our program combines a positive culture, caring staff, careful medical treatment, individualized psychotherapy and education, and numerous activities, including our unique equestrian program
The Job
We are seeking talented individuals to help have a positive impact on the lives of at risk youth. As a Youth Care Worker you will serve as a role model and provide support and structure to the residents in our care.
Snapshot of Daily Duties
- Maintain safety, accountability and security of campus.
- Teach, coach and supervise students in activities of daily living including morning, bedtime and overnight procedures, hygiene and cleanliness, housekeeping, meals, intramurals, sports, academics, and extracurricular activities both on and off campus.
- Observe the peer culture for patterns of behavior indicating progress or regression in the program.
- Observe individual student behavior over time and recognize progress towards treatment goals.
- Effectively communicate, both written and orally.
- Follow and implement individual treatment plans for all students.
- Recognize escalating behaviors and intervene at the appropriate level to ensure safety and security.
The Must Haves
- Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED
- 21 years of age or older
- Maturity, empathy and patience
- The ideal candidate must have the ability to adjust to a fast-paced environment.
