We are currently recruiting for a seasoned professional to lead our health, safety, and environmental
(EHS) initiatives.
Responsibilities include:
- Establishing and maintaining an outstanding EHS operation, and promoting a culture that values safe and sustainable operations.
- Maintain a visible presence throughout our operations.
- Acts as subject matter expert on all matters involving EHS.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and corporate laws/regulations/codes/policies related to EHS.
- Maintain AWTEC safety grid system to help ensure a safe work environment.
- Participation and coordination of plant HSE activities as determined by and necessary for the continued maintenance of ISO 14001 certification.
- Ensures compliance with all OSHA/MIOSHA and EPA/DEQ recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
- Develops/provides training such as LOTO, and other safety and environmental training, ensuring compliance with regulatory and AWTEC standards.
- Act as a Liaison with corporate EH&S department for communications and audits and ensures action plan is developed in response to annual safety audits.
- Leads efforts to maintain a high level of EHS awareness.
- Ensuring that EHS risks in the workplace are properly managed, and impacts on the environment are minimized.
- Maintain written environmental and safety programs and procedures in accordance with
ISO14001, and corporate environmental, health, safety, and ergonomics requirements
- Function as the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Representative.
- Coordinate inspections with corporate, state and federal agencies when necessary.
- Coordinate all hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling, disposal, and storage.
- Ensure procurement of proper EHS supplies including PPE.
- Participate in and conduct audits for environmental compliance and conformance.
- Monitor status of plant active/open Workmen’s Compensation claims and associated costs.
- Prepare, maintain, and report on Monthly HSE KPI‘s.
- Develop and administer plant safety rules and regulations.
- Review new equipment and identify potential hazards.
- Investigate accidents and injuries and assist with implementing corrective actions.
- Coordinate and maintain all plant emergency response procedures, evacuation plans, applicable employee training, and performance of routine drills.
- Lead the Safety Committee and the Emergency Response Team
- Responsible for managing the AWTEC Idea plan and SHINE programs for continuous improvements.
- Review and maintain Safety Data sheets
- Administer housekeeping program and perform audits
Role Requirements:
- 4 year college degree in Industrial Health & Safety or a related field.
- 5- 7 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and industrial safety
- Subject matter expert with regards to OSHA & DOT regulations
- Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Must be able to develop and deliver presentations on a variety of EHS topics.
Skillset:
- Must be a self-starter, able to work with a minimum of supervision.
- Strong planning, time management, and project management skills.
- Sound analytical and problem solving skills, with an emphasis on a “hands on” approach.
- Communicates and interacts effectively with production staff, managers, and other departments
