Job Summary
Pediatricians provide primary medical care for infants, children, and teenagers and help chart their growth towards adulthood. They diagnose and treat a range of ailments in young people including providing direct patient care and coordinating with specialists and other providers to treat patients. Pediatricians work at various clinics and locations at Denver Health.

Responsibilities

1. Admit, evaluate, diagnose, and treat children and provide consultation to parents and guardians of children with acute and chronic illnesses, including major and complicated, and perform procedures learned in training. 2. Provide preventative and therapeutic care for children. This includes admit patients, preventative care, acute care, care of injured persons, management of chronic illnesses, and performance of procedures learned in training. 3. Supervise house staff in providing care for patients of all ages in ambulatory and inpatient settings. 4. Performs privileged procedures as outlined in the Denver Health and Hospital Authority Medical Staff Department of Pediatrics and Community Health Services Division of General Pediatrics Clinical Privileges documentation. 5. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
1. Has adequate knowledge and skill of all privileged procedures as outlined in the Denver Health and Hospital Authority Medical Staff Department of Pediatrics and Community Health Services Division of General Pediatrics Clinical Privileges documentation.
Education
• Doctorate Degree (Required) 1. Medical Doctor or Doctor of Medicine 2. Successful completion of an American Board of Pediatrics or American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics approved post-graduate training program in Pediatrics, or successful completion of a residency program in Pediatrics approved by another equivalent organization (e.g. International) or deemed appropriate by the Director of Pediatrics.
Experience
Credentials
• Physician (Required) 1. Board Certification in Pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics or the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics within 3 years of graduation from an approved post-graduate training program in Pediatrics as defined above. 2. Valid license to practice medicine in the State of Colorado. 1. Valid license to practice medicine in the State of Colorado.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) from American Heart Association (Required) BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS, or NRPBLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS, or NRP
